Michelle Simm’s heart beats extra for dark BDSM

Friday again, and another reader interview. I have quite a few of them lined up now, and that is very exciting! Meet Michelle Simm, one-click addict and owner of a secret society for the likes of us. Here’s what she had to say to my questions, and like many of her predecessors here, mathematics isn’t her strongest suit… The young minx also asked me a question that had my mind reel for a while, until the answer emerged from the shadows of the early onset of dementia!

If were were to do this interview in the real world, where would we sit and talk?
Firstly, thank you for this opportunity to talk candidly about myself and my love of reading. Hmm, where would we sit and talk……. Well seeing as how i live in England and we RARELY get sunshine it’d have to be on a beach in Hawaii or Jamaica sipping cocktails, which we’d be getting served by some very sexy, scantily clad waiters. [Hmm, I was quite looking forward to seeing Newcastle under Lyme, too]

I haven’t met you in the real world, nor online really, even though we both are members of the same “secret society” on Facebook. Can you tell me a bit about yourself?
A bit about me……. I’m a 30 something mum of 3. I was married to their dad but we got divorced then engaged to each other again !! I love reading, love getting tattoos (I’ve got 8 so far), and we have a dog and pet bearded dragon. I’m a bit of a recluse and would rather sit at home reading than venturing out in to the real world.

What is one thing you would like the world to remember you for?
For just being me. I don’t put on airs and graces for ANYONE, what you see with me is what you get, and if anyone doesn’t like it then it’s their problem not mine.

I understand you’re an avid reader, particularly given your “one-clickaholism”. What got you into reading in the first place?
As a teenager i used to love reading R.L Stine’s Point Horror books, and as soon as i knew that one was due out i’d go to my local bookstore and preorder it. I also loved V.C Andrews’ Flowers In The Attic series too. But then, when i started working and socializing my time for reading was taken over. It wasn’t until the Fifty Shades Of Grey series and all the hype that came with it that i got back into reading,

We even got a picture from Michelle, here with actor Danny Dyer.

People I know pointed me toward you, so I presume you like to read gay fiction. As a woman, what attracts you in gay fiction?
Hmm…… I like this question…..Well for me the book that started my love of gay fiction was Ella Frank’s Try. I’d got the first two books (book 3 came out last year) and from book 1 i was addicted. My reason for liking this genre is simply because it’s so different than the usual M/F stories and i especially love the darker M/M books such as Jack L Pyke’s Don’t series or Brad Vance‘s Luke’s Brutal Abduction. I could name many other authors too; Kora Knight, Nicola Haken etc whose books are all amazing but so different too !!

Is there a (sub-)genre that makes your heart skip a beat?
Dark BDSM.

For some odd reason you end up on a remote island, a modern day Robinson Crusoe, with only three books to bring along as company. Which ones would you bring along as your literary Fridays?
Can I take 3 kindles loaded with all my books ?? PLEASEEEE !!!! Hahaha Ok I’d PROBABLY take Dicken’s complete works if it was available in paperback as I’d love to read all his works. I’d DEFINITELY have to take my Black Rebel Riders complete series by Glenna Maynard…….Hmmm 3rd book, hopefully I’d have Kora Knight’s Upending Tad complete series by then so that’d be my third choice.

If you could travel to any point in time, where would you go and what would you do?
I’d go back to when i was 15- 16 around about the time my mum became an alcoholic and try to change her ways. As it is she’s now in a nursing home, has been for about 10 years now after suffering a Brain Aneurysm. [Very sorry to hear that.]

If, for some reason, you woke up in a world without books, what would you do to pass your free time?
A WORLD WITHOUT BOOKS !!! NOOO !!! Don’t even joke about that !!! I used to do a lot of Tapestries so I’d probably start that again.

What is the best advice you’ve ever given to someone?
Well an author friend of mine, Glenna Maynard, whom I’d love to meet, often messages me on facebook when her latest book is ready to go live saying how worried she is etc and i always tell her not to worry and to ignore “Troll City Central” aka Goodreads. I know how hard she works at writing her books and how anxious she gets at times.

Do you have a credo you live by? Something you try to follow?
To just be myself. And probably “Do unto others as you would have others do unto you”

What is the most beautiful place you’ve ever been to?
Southern Ireland as a teenager. The weather was crap but the scenery was out of this world and the people were so friendly.

Do you have any regrets in life?
What’s the point in regretting anything. I’m a believer of everything happening for a reason. Would i change anything from my past ?? Probably yes, I’d probably not have been so stubborn as a teenager and put my parents through hell as I’m sure I’m being paid back now by my teenagers. lol

Great reviews for my latest release! :)

Michelle Simm’s book of choice: Spanish Bay

Quick fire five: Answer only with one word/name OR a number.

  1. On average, how many books do you read per week? 12
  2. Who’s your favorite actor? Charlie Hunnam [I hear you…]
  3. Your favorite food? Lasagna
  4. Your favorite vocal artist? Kelly Jones
  5. What drink would you never, ever try? Urine, piss. LOL

Thank you Michelle Simm for being a good sport. As a thank you, the book you requested (Spanish Bay) is underway, and you also got to ask me a question, and here is what you “challenged” me with: “Craziest place you’ve ever had sex” (I told you she’s a minx…)

I’ve been thinking about this. I’ve had a lot of sex and I’ve had it in many places (although usually in a bed), but in the end, I recalled meeting this one guy online (ages ago, don’t even remember his face), and it was a beautiful summer’s day, and we ended up parking the car on a forest road, and took a blanket to head out into the woods. Bad idea. We had barely gotten naked and intertwined when we felt the bites. We’d set up camp on top of ground dwelling ants, and they didn’t take lightly to our humping on top of their house… Needless to say we were out of there in seconds and we’d both lost the lust for any further humping… Sorry if a disappoint you! 😉 I’m THAT boring.
